Top 5: Power-packed phones with over 4000 mAh batteries available in India

When it comes to the battery on your mobile, who doesn't want more? While the desire for bigger batteries may be great, there aren't too many phones around with really big batteries (by big we mean, more than 4000 mAh). And from that select lot, we have picked the five best.

1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Price: Rs 9,999

Launched early in March this year, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is one of the very few phones to come at this price point boasting the features that it comes with. Some of the key highlights that make the phone stand out in the otherwise crowded budget smartphone market include a premium metal body, fingerprint sensor, an ergonomic and visually pleasing design. And of course, the phone includes a powerful 4050 mAh battery.

2. Asus ZenFone Max

Price: Rs 9,999

While the phone was unveiled in August last year, it was introduced in India early this year. The phone doesn't look much different from other ZenFones, but there is one thing in the phone that makes it different from the rest of the phones from the Asus stable. And that is, its huge battery. The monstrous 5000 mAh battery in the phone is not only claimed to keep your phone up for a longer duration, but can also be used to charge other devices. In other words, the Asus ZenFone Max also doubles as a power bank.

3. Lenovo Vibe P1

Price: Rs. 14,999

Quite like the ZenFone Max, the Lenovo Vibe P1 also includes a large 5000 mAh battery which also supports reverse charging. But the Lenovo Vibe P1 takes an edge over the ZenFone Max on a couple of fronts including the display and expandable storage capacity. Broadly speaking, the two phones are neck and neck on the spec sheet.

4. Gionee Marathon M5

Price: Rs 17,999

Of all the phones listed here, the Gionee Marathon M5 has the largest battery. Its 6020mAh Lithium-ion battery is said to keep the phone running for up to 4 days. It also, like a couple of phones listed above, doubles as a power bank. While many companies have either one or two phones with a gigantic battery in their smartphone range, Gionee has a separate Marathon series of phones with significantly large batteries. Other phones in the series include M5 Lite, M4, M3, and the M2.

5. Oppo R7 Plus

Price: Rs 29,990

Packed with a 4100 mAh battery, it is the most expensive phone in the list here. If Oppo's claim is believed to be true, this phone offers 2 hours of talk time on 5 minutes of charge. Encased in a metal body, the phone has a fingerprint sensor at the back. The 4G R7 Plus has dual SIM slots and SD card support of up to 128 GB.

Virtual reality set to transform filmmaking

Chris Milk stepped onto a TED Conference stage and took the audience on an awe-inducing trip into the future of movies. While much of the early attention on virtual reality has focused on use of the immersive technology in video games, Milk and his US startup Vrse are using it to transform storytelling and filmgoing. "We have just started to scratch the surface of the true power of virtual reality," Milk said. "It's not a video game peripheral. It connects humans to other humans in a profound way... I think virtual reality has the potential to actually change the world." He had everyone in the Vancouver audience at TED , which ended Friday, hold Google Cardboard viewers to their eyes for what was billed as the world's collective virtual reality experience. Google Cardboard gear is literally that -- cardboard
