Rail Budget 2016: 100 railway stations to get free WiFi this year

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday proposed commissioning of WiFi services at 100 rail stations this year and at a total 400 in the next two years. Indian Railways has partnered with Google in this endeavour. Google's chief executive Sundar Pichai, during his visit to India in December last year, said: "In our attempt to provide internet access to people, we have decided to provide Wi-Fi at 400 railway stations in association with RailTel. The first 100 stations will come online by 2016-end." Mark Zuckerberg boasts he can change a nappy in 20 seconds

Facebook founder and chief Mark Zuckerberg , whose first child was born in November, boasted that he could change a nappy in 20 seconds. "I am competitive guy, I time myself to get and better, and I got down to 20 seconds," the 31-year-old told an audience in Berlin where he was receiving an award from German publisher Axel Springer. "The trick is to slide the new diaper under the old one," he added. Zuckerberg's Facebook page, which is "followed" by more than 43 million people, regularly features pictures of him with his wife Priscilla Chan, baby daughter Maxima and pet dog Beast. He has also posted a photo of him changing nappies. Despite his massive wealth, Zuckerberg - depicted in the Hollywood drama "The Social Network" as a socially challenged computer geek - still turns up at the office in a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers, topped off by his trademark hooded sweatshirt. Touching on his famously dressed-down style he added: "I ha...

Apple spaces out the letters on its website so that 'click' isn't mistaken for 'dick'

Apple has come a long way from its roots in the counterculture of the 1970s to evolve in the prim and proper multi-billion company it is today. So concerned Apple is about propriety that it has gone to the extent of altering the spacing of the letters of the word 'click' on its website. There doesn't appear to be any other reasonable explanation behind this other than to prevent people from mistaking the word 'click' for 'dick.' Because if the 'cl' in the word 'click' in the sentence "There's more to love with every click," is confused for a 'd' then the meaning turns vulgar. This was noticed by a sharp-eyed Twitter user Dan Leech ( @bathtype ) who says he also tinkers with typefaces. A peep into the source code of Apple's OS X page, shows that the company has indeed "wrapped a span around the word 'click' to apply more generous letter spacing, so it doesn't look like ' dick .'" Don't deface 'Black Lives Matter' movement at Facebook, Zuckerberg warns staff

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has issued a stern internal memo to employees telling them not to ruin the "Black Lives Matter" movement by defacing Facebook's signature wall that serves as a dry-erase message board at the company's headquarters in California. The signature wall at the company's Menlo Park headquarters has turned into a graffiti war where employees are crossing out "Black Lives Matter" on the wall and writing "All Lives Matter" instead, said Gizmodo in a report. The "Black Lives Matter" movement is being observed against the racial profiling and police brutality experienced by the African-American community in the US. "I was already disappointed by this disrespectful behaviour before, but after my communication I consider this malicious as well," Zuckerberg said in the memo. "We’ve never had rules around what people can write on our walls. We expect everybody to treat each other with respect," h...

DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant washed his hands of the Freedom 251 phone, which has run into a major controversy with questions being raised over the company providing mobile handset at a dirt cheap price. "This is not a Govt project. Make in India team has nothing 2 (to) do with this," tweeted Kant, the outgoing secretary of DIPP which is the nodal agency for the 'Make in India' campaign. In an earlier tweet on February 19, Kant had said: "It's not d (the) price of handset; its broadband connectivity & operational cost: Freedom 251: priced at Rs 251". On this tweet, some Twitter users raised objections as why a government representative of 'Make In India' was clarifying on behalf of Freedom251 company, which has been embroiled in controversy since the launch of the smartphone. In another controversial turn of events in the Freedom 251 saga, Ringing Bells has been accused of "fraud" and non-payment of dues by its customer service...

Freedom 251-maker Ringing Bells now accused of cheating and fraud by its customer service provider

In another controversial turn of events in the Freedom 251 saga, Ringing Bells has been accused of "fraud" and non-payment of dues by its customer service provider - a charge refuted by the smartphone company. Ringing Bell has, on the other hand, accused the BPO company, Cyfuture, of having failed in handling the huge traffic of customer calls. Cyfuture Founder and CEO Anuj Bairathi said, "We were always sceptical of Ringing Bells and their business model. After several rounds of discussions with their management team and when they showed us names of senior politicians visiting their launch event, we decided to take up their project." The first few days after the phone was unveiled, the call-centre number received lakhs of calls which were attended and promptly responded to and even Ringing Bells was happy with our services, he said. "However, when we started asking for our payments, which were to be made to us on a weekly basis, they started making false...
