Moto 360 Sport Smartwatch Coming to India on April 27

Motorola is all set to add a new device to its smartwatch portfolio in India. Named Moto 360, the new smartwatch will be launched in the country on April 27. Beijing to Build Toilets With Free WiFi

Beijing Municipality will build 100 toilets with free WiFi access this year as part of the city's "toilet revolution" efforts. The toilets, to be built in the districts of Tongzhou and Fangshan, will also have ATM machines and charging facilities for cellphones and electric vehicles, said Ji Yang, an official with the Beijing Municipal Commission of City Administration and Environment, told Xinhua on Monday. Baby seats will be installed next to the toilets so that mothers can free their hands. The estimated cost of each toilet is between 50,000 yuan ($7,685) and 100,000 yuan, Ji said. Urinals for children and barrier-free facilities will be installed in the city's current toilets, together with ventilation and air conditioning systems to ensure a stable temperature of at least 12 degrees Celsius in winter and no higher than 30 degrees Celsius in the summer, he said.

Google Selects 15 IIT-K Students for Coding Programme

As many as 15 students from the Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur have been selected for the Google Summer of Code open-source coding programme, the institute said on Monday. The Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is an international annual programme, in which Google awards stipends (of $5,500 as of 2015) to all students who successfully complete a requested free and open-source software coding project during summer. During 2005-2012, IIT-Kharagpur had produced 51 GSoCers, the highest in India. "This time, a record 15 students got selected from IIT-Kharagpur which includes one student from the first year, six students from the second year, two students from the third year, five students from the fourth year and one student from the fifth year," said a statement from the institute.

Google Glass-using Startup Raises $17 Million in Funding

Augmedix Inc, a startup that uses Alphabet Inc's Google Glass to provide documentation services to doctors and other healthcare workers, said on Monday it had closed a $17 million (11.7 million pounds) funding round led by investment firm Redmile Group. Augmedix's employees transcribe doctors' notes and update patients' electronic medical record through Google Glass. The San Francisco company, which has raised $40 million so far, also said it had received investments from five US healthcare networks, including Sutter Health and Dignity Health, which together have more than 100,000 healthcare workers. Augmedix, with 400 employees, said it serves doctors in nearly all 50 US states. Funds raised will be used to build up the service to serve more health systems and private clinics, the company said. Augmedix is one of 10 partners authorized by Alphabet to deliver enterprise services through Google Glass.
