MacOS, Apple Watch 2, iOS 10: What to Expect at Apple's WWDC 2016

Apple has officially announced the dates for its World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2016 which will kick start on June 13 in San Francisco. The 27th annual conference will run through June 17 and bring together Apple's developer community from across the world to learn more about the future of Apple's software.

This year's WWDC will play host to multiple announcements which are likely to include an updated list of Apple software and a sneak peak into the tech giant's upcoming products.

Here's what all one could expect from the Apple WWDC 2016:

1. Software updates

In all likelihood, Apple will bring the next iteration of its closed software- iOS 10 - with a host of improvements. The iPhone, iPad software update is likely to be followed by next versions of El Captain, tvOS, and also the watchOS. There are also speculations that Apple will rename its Mac software- OS X- as MacOS along with a possible inclusion of Apple's digital assistant Siri. Apple has long been improving its iPhotos app and at the WWDC 2016, we might be able to see an improved version of the app that could come bundled with the new software.

2. New Macs

Apple recently introduced its updated 12-inch MacBook which is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and also in a new Rose Gold finish.The manufacturer has also announced that all versions of its 13-inch MacBook Air will be equipped with 8 GB of RAM as standard. Any new announcements are therefore likely to concern the MacBook Pro, which could see all models slimmed down in an entirely updated range.

3. Apple Watch 2

Apple's smartwatch is likely to get a new software update along with a possibility of a successor. Apple could also introduce new straps with the Apple Watch 2. The successor to the original Apple Watch is expected to be thinner and include standalone basic communication capabilities.

The conference will see over 1,000 Apple engineers lead more than 150 hands-on workshops to accompany and assist developers in their app-building projects. Developers will also be given access to the latest innovations and features of OS X, iOS, watchOS and tvOS. Plus, the most innovative apps will be crowned with an Apple Design Award.

Tickets to attend the event are priced at $1,599. However, anyone and everyone can tune into the latest announcements on the internet, as Apple will be streaming WWDC sessions live on its official website.

The conference kicks off Monday, June 13, with a keynote in the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Other sessions will be held at the Moscone West convention center.

Explained: Camera Improvements in the New HTC 10

With the HTC 10, the Taiwanese company is promising to undo the past wrongs in the cameras of its previous flagship phones. The camera has long a weak point in HTC devices. At first, HTC sacrificed image resolution in the M8 and made the size of individual pixels larger to capture more light (what HTC called Ultrapixel). But the resulting 4 megapixel images were often fuzzy, especially when cropped or enlarged. To fix the issue, in its next flagship - the M9 - HTC went with smaller individual pixels in a 20-megapixel camera last year, but it still underperformed in extreme situations, such as indoors and close-ups. In the HTC 10, the company attempts to strike a balance with larger individual pixels (1.55µm), but not as large as before and a 12 megapixel sensor in its camera coupled with a ƒ/1.8 lens. Freedom 251: 30,000 Units Sold, Components for Up to 2.5 Million Will Be Imported

Ringing Bells, the makers of the Rs. 251 smartphone - the Freedom 251 - confirmed to Gadgets 360 on Tuesday that it has still only accepted payments for 30,000 units of the phone. It also added that the components for these phones will be imported, and only assembled in India, not made here. Ringing Bells stopped accepting orders on February 19, and claims to have received over 70 million registrations. The company President and Director both repeatedly stated that the price of the phone would be made possible through economies of scale, and making the phone in India to cut out import costs. Economies of scale? However, in a discussion with Gadgets 360 the company revealed that it had only sold 30,000 units of the phone on day one.
