Freedom 651: Parody website takes on Freedom 251; promises to deliver a Rs 651 smartphone in 40 years via drones

As the future of the world's cheapest smartphone - Freedom 251 - still looks bleak, a spoof website freedom651.com is leaving no stone unturned to take a dig at both the maker of the Rs 251 smartphone and the phone itself, which the site claims has been crafted 'from components found only on planet Mars.'

The spoof website says that in order to build its Freedom 251-lookalike Freedom 651 phone by a fictional 'Doesn't Ring Bells Pvt Ltd' ( a take on the original Ringing Bells Pvt Ltd) has tied up with Standard Fireworks in Sivakasi to make 20 million of their rockets and in order to send humans to Mars by tying them to the crackers, they need the upfront payment of Rs 650.

From the 'Do not Buy' button, a delivery date of 30th June, 2026, a customer care number which reads- 0420-420420, 4200420, and a separate 'Contact Us' section that asks for a user's grandfather's, neighbour's details and still warns not to even try submitting the form; the website brutally takes down every aspect of Freedom 251's existence or the lack of it.

The 'About Us' section of the spoof website mentions that it is indeed a 'parody website with no intentions of making a smart phone or any other smart move towards making one.' The social media links on the website direct to a 'Places near Pune' tourist information page on Facebook, seemingly created in late 2010.

Ringing Bells- the company behind the dubious Freedom 251 smartphone has come under fire from the mobile industry for announcing a smartphone at an unrealistically low price, passing off another company's device as its own, lacking appropriate certifications, and many such allegations.

A team led by an Indian-origin professor at Columbia University has created a novel sheet camera that can be wrapped around everyday objects to capture images that cannot be taken with one or more conventional cameras. Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) Leaked in Press Images

The anticipated successor to the popular Samsung Galaxy J1, tipped to be called the Galaxy J1 (2016), has once again been leaked in images on the Web. While in the previous leaks we have seen the unannounced smartphone in its Black colour variant, the new leaked image shows the handset in two additional colour variants. The image tweeted by @evleaks on Monday shows the Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) smartphone in Gold and White colour variants. The design of the handset also fall in line with the models leaked in images previously. It is worth mentioning that the screen bezel seen in the image stay black in all the three colour variants. The smartphone is seen featuring a physical home button, along with a multi-window, and a back capacitive button on either side.
