Xiaomi Mi 5 Image Leaked, Thin Bezels & Physical Home Button In Tow

It seems that leaks around Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone, Mi 5 won’t stop coming. Now a new leaked image of the device has surfaced online. The image that has surfaced on Weibo, shows thin bezels and a physical home button. The bezels are super slim and the device seems to feature 2.5D curved glass over the display. The physical home button below the display is expected to house fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi has shared a teaser image of a device similar to Mi Note on its Weibo account which appears to be the much anticipated flagship smartphone Mi 5. The bezels of the device in the teaser image are much slimmer than Mi Note though. The device has metal frame and Mi logo on top left corner.

The placement of finger on device’s screen hints at ClearForce Touch technology from Synaptics which is similar to 3D touch technology seen in Apple iphone 6 and iphone 6s plus smartphones.

Supporting the previous rumors, a new leak has hinted that Xiaomi’s much anticipated Mi 5 smartphone will be launched soon. The rumor comes from a Tipster Leaksfly whose Weibo post reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched on December 3, 2015.

The tipster also mentions that the Mi 5 will pack Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor which is likely to be launched on November 20. Thus, Xiaomi is waiting for Qualcomm to finish with development of the chipset which is likely to be under the hood of its next flagship smartphone.

Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone Xiaomi Mi 5 has been leaked several times before, revealing specifications. Now it seems we have launch timeline of the device. According to Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, the Mi 5, which is said to be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, could launch as early as in December 2015.

Moreover, leakster Leaksfly has revealed the specifications of the device. Mi 5 is rumored to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 5.2 inches full HD display, Android Lollipop 5.1.1 OS, 16/32 GB ROM, 16 mega pixel rear camera and 8 mega pixel front camera.

Rumors about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 have again surfaced online. According to Mobipicker, the device is set to be launched in November 2015. The publication also reveals specs of the forthcoming device.

Codenamed as ‘Libra’, the Mi 5 will  be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. Other specs of the handset include 5.3-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) display, 16GB/64GB of internal storage, 16 mega pixel rear camera, 6 mega pixel front facing camera, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with MIUI and a 3030mAh battery. It is also said to feature a fingerprint scanner.

Several leaks about specifications and launch date of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phone Mi 5 have been churning out the rumor mill lately. Latest leaks by a Chinese website (via Android Headlines) however have revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 5 with 4GB of RAM will launch in November. The report also mentions that Mi will sport a Snapdragon 820 SoC coupled with a 4GB RAM and will arrive with two storage options- 16GB/64GB.

According to latest report it will sport 5.5-inch display contradicting the previous leaks which hinted at a 5.2-inch QHD display. Other rumored specs of the device include 16 mega pixel rear camera, 8 mega pixel front facing camera and 3000 mAh battery.

New reports about Xiaomi’s forthcoming Mi 5 smartphone have surfaced internet on GizmoChina via Weibo revealing that the Mi 5 could come with another variant dubbed the Mi 5 Plus, both of which are expected to launch in July 2015.

Furthermore, the Chinese publication has also detailed the specifications of the upcoming smartphones. According to the report, besides featuring fingerprint sensor, Xiaomi Mi 5 will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM, 5.2 inch display, 16 mega pixel rear camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

The Mi 5 Plus on the other hand, will be a larger variant of Mi 5. It is likely feature a 6-inch 2K display, bezel-less design, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of inbuilt storage and 16 mega pixel rear camera with OIS. Rest of the details about specs of the handsets are not known yet and are likely to be revealed in the coming days.

Xiaomi has been gearing up for the launch of Mi 4’s successor dubbed the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship phone. Though nothing has been revealed officially, a report from MyDrivers suggests that Xiaomi’s next flagship could come with a fingerprint sensor.

The report has revealed that Xiaomi has filed a patent for fingerprint recognition method with State Intellectual Property Office in China. Xiaomi’s forthcoming Mi 5 handset is likely to incorporate fingerprint sensor in physical home button which might also be the highlight of the handset. The patent application reads as, “The device comprises a bottom fingerprint sensors and optical sensor provided in the terminal equipment of the cover glass; fingerprint identification circuit connected fingerprint sensor for fingerprint recognition sensor and the fingerprint information analysis and processing, obtain fingerprint analysis ; host processor, and an optical sensor and fingerprint identification circuit connections for the monitored optical sensor light information received to determine whether cover glass touch button operation; identity authentication based on fingerprint analysis results obtained fingerprint identification circuit.”

As for specifications, a lot of details of Mi 5 have been leaked so far. According to MIUI thread, the device is likely to feature a  5.2-inch QHD display, 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 GPU, 3 GB of RAM, 16 mega pixel rear camera, 8 mega pixel front camera and a 3600 mAh battery. It is also expected to arrive in two storage variants- 16 GB and 64 GB.

With the HTC 10, the Taiwanese company is promising to undo the past wrongs in the cameras of its previous flagship phones. The camera has long a weak point in HTC devices. At first, HTC sacrificed image resolution in the M8 and made the size of individual pixels larger to capture more light (what HTC called Ultrapixel). But the resulting 4 megapixel images were often fuzzy, especially when cropped or enlarged. Freedom 251: 30,000 Units Sold, Components for Up to 2.5 Million Will Be Imported

Ringing Bells, the makers of the Rs. 251 smartphone - the Freedom 251 - confirmed to Gadgets 360 on Tuesday that it has still only accepted payments for 30,000 units of the phone. It also added that the components for these phones will be imported, and only assembled in India, not made here. Ringing Bells stopped accepting orders on February 19, and claims to have received over 70 million registrations. The company President and Director both repeatedly stated that the price of the phone would be made possible through economies of scale, and making the phone in India to cut out import costs.
